Most of the time above ground pool liners are made from a thick vinyl. They are made to hold the water in your above ground pool. The water from the pool puts pressure against liner and holds the walls up. The metal supports for an above ground pool fall inward if all the water is removed from the pool liner.
An above ground pool liner is practical and beautiful. You can find them in many different patterns and styles and can set the design theme for your yard. You can get replacement pool liners in a variety of thicknesses which are most often called grades.
The thicker pool liners are more durable and likely to last during normal use. The thickness is referred to either as mil or gauge when ordering a pool liner. Usually above ground pools with come with a pool liner that has a 20 gauge thickness. When buying a replacement liner you can upgrade the thickness to 30 gauge if you would like. Above ground swimming pools will need either an overlapping pool liner or a beaded pool liner.
These liners are held in place by different methods. With an overlapping style above ground pool liner it is attached by folding it over the top edge of the above ground pool and held firmly in place under the top rail. If you look under the top rail you will see a small portion of the pool liner. You must take off the top rail around your pool in order to install a replacement liner for an overlap style pool. You will use plastic clips to firmly hold the liner while you replace the top rail. You will find a small groove at the top edge of a beaded above ground pool liner. This bead or groove is placed in a track which runs along the top of the pool wall. You can find the track for the beaded pool liner if you look underneath the rail that runs along the inside of the pool.
