Ten years ago you would stand in front of a camera until the photographer could fit everyone into his/her view and then hold your smile for as long as necessary until the flash went off. Now however you stand wherever you want while the photographer zooms in or out to make sure everyone is in the picture, and when the shot is taken you can analyze it to see if it is appropriate or not. Why the change in methods for taking photographs you ask?. All because someone was smart enough to invent digital cameras.
Whether you are a professional photographer or someone who just likes taking random pictures, digital cameras are the most useful tools around. All that is required to use a digital camera is a memory card and a cable to upload it onto a computer, and a photographer is born. You can take more than five hundred pictures, depending on the available memory on the card, which means even if you make a mistake, you could probably take three versions of the same picture, making errors pretty much irrelevant. Digital cameras have become an everyday part of life for almost everyone today, and it is not uncommon to hear someone say ‘Do you want to see pictures of the trip I took last week? The place was gorgeous…’ and pull out a digital camera from their bag.
The presence of digital cameras has unfortunately meant that professional photographer’s services are not needed as much as they were before. Until digital cameras became a part of everyday life, expensive professional photographer’s would be hired to record an important event – weddings, christenings, engagement parties or even birthday parties. Now however, friends and family are called upon to make sure every aspect of the important day is recorded. This has its benefits because for one, it is much cheaper, and also people do not feel awkward smiling into a camera held by someone they know, unlike in the case of a professional they may never have met before. All photographs taken in a digital camera can be stored in personal computers, and so even businesses which print out photographs have been affected by digital cameras. Photographs from a digital camera can be directly stored in the computer, and unless proper photographs are needed they can be printed directly from the computer itself, so the need to visit a shop for printing out photographs is pretty rare.
Newer and more modern versions of digital cameras come with additional features to them. There are those that can record videos, and those that allow the photograph to be edited on the camera itself. All these additions help in adding variety to the photographs. All in all, digital cameras are the way of the future, so go ahead…experiment with one!
